About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity available for a high-achieving, innovative, and resourceful Clinical Educator (Social Work and Human Services) to join our School of Law and Society at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
You will be based at our state-of-the art Moreton Bay campus, which is one of Australia’s newest greenfield university campuses and a game changer for our university. Located in Petrie, to the north of Brisbane, UniSC is the anchor educational institution in the heart of “The Mill at Moreton Bay”. This location offers unique opportunities to be central to one of the region’s catalytic developments giving academics unique opportunities to partner with new and growing facilities on our doorstep and meet the vision of a truly Industry integrated campus.
This position will focus on the facilitation of quality clinical education of students, primarily through placements, as well as the delivery of curriculum in the area of social work at our Moreton Bay Campus.
You will
- Contribute to learning and teaching practices within the social work and human services discipline;
- Undertake high-impact research;
- Supervise HDR candidates;
- Play a part in successful research grant applications; and
- Contribute to governance, coordination of and participation in the school capacity-building activities, and activities that contribute to the student experience.

About you
You contribute to a positive and engaging academic environment, enabling excellence for both staff and students. Your well-developed interpersonal skills and exceptional written and verbal communication enable you to successfully deliver a superior student experience. You collaborate cohesively and share your expertise to contribute to the ongoing success of the school’s teaching and research outcomes.
You will possess:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent accreditation and standing;
- Eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW);
- 5 years post Social Work qualifying experience to meet accreditation requirements;
- Effectiveness as a teacher and field education officer, which is evidenced by, student feedback on clinical teaching and student supervision placement;
- Evidence of quality clinical education of social work and human service students in various forms: including simulated, telehealth, external and internal placements
- Sound connections with relevant social work and human service agencies for student placements;
- Strong personal qualities and collegiate approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment conducive to engagement and achievement for both staff and students; and
evidence of participation in academic or professional development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.
Desirable
- Completion or near-completion of a master’s qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing; and
- Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, such as course coordination, within a university.
